“Pick one thing and be good at it.” Valerie spoke on what led her to become an expert in Facebook ads. She shared that in order to be successful you need to pick just one thing and became great at it. The focus you can give to that one talent will help you to succeed in your business. She stressed that “stepping outside of your comfort zone” is super important to helping your business to grow and thrive. There’s something about being in person and having face-to-face time that online relationships only cannot provide.
Valerie’s One Idea
Like most entrepreneurs, Valerie was in the corporate world, unhappy with the “glass” ceiling. She heard someone mention “Entrepreneur” that sparked her curiosity and led her to research more of what an entrepreneur is. She began in affiliate marketing using Google Adwords, as Facebook was not around yet. She worked at it part-time and mostly at night after her children went to sleep. In 2009 social media came online and with it Facebook ads. Everyone kept saying how difficult Facebook ads were but when she researched it, she felt it was easier to use than Google Adwords. One day her corporate job became so frustrating and stressful that it led her to take the leap, submit her two weeks’ notice and dive headfirst into entrepreneurship. She was determined to make it!
Valerie is the Facebook go-to expert. She has created a lot of ads on Facebook for multiple niches, webinars and the like. Within the last year she has been focusing on helping others in troubleshooting their Facebook ads quickly to see what’s working and help to fix it. She has also created a Facebook Ads Mastermind How-To group, teaching others to create Facebook ads.
♦ Focus on one thing. “Pick one thing and be good at it.” She became known as the Facebook go-to person/expert because she was able to delve into and focus on only one thing.
♦ Anchor clients – having these clients helps to increase awareness of your business and gives you credibility
♦ Focus on the profit-producing activities – there’s so much you could be doing and it’s amazing how you can just keep brainstorming ideas but not start on any. Get started on the profit-producing activities and then focus on the other ideas.
♦ It’s easy to get stuck behind the computer because it’s super comfortable and safe. You need to go out and network; step out of your comfort zone. Be willing to put yourself out there.
