What value can I add? What can I offer that no one else can provide or I can do with my own style that’s unique? – Simon Bailey
Simon spoke about the importance of content and making meaning in what you do. When you find the reason you’re doing something, you also find the meaning of yourself and your contribution to the world. Find what makes you come alive and makes you wake up with a purpose every day. Success Habit: Start the day between 4 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., planning and plotting.
Simon’s One Idea
While working for Disney for a number of years, Simon realized that the money is in the content. People are overwhelmed with information but will gravitate towards stories as it helps them to relate, build camaraderie and trust. Simon aligned himself with the instructional developers, gaining hands on experience. Eventually the time came where that side business needed to shine.
With Simon’s business now, they teach three things:
♦ Teach individuals how to quit their job and start going to work.
♦ Teach organizations how to grow their most important asset – people.
♦ Teach people how to shift from chasing money to having money chase them.
♦ When you’re ready to make your move, “you will be uncomfortable with being comfortable.”
♦ It’s not about whom you know but who knows you. It’s all about reputation and your reputation will cause others to either return your call or not.
5 Moves To Start A New Business
If they were to start another business today, they would concentrate on this key factor:
- Always use other peoples’ money when beginning a new venture not just yours.
- Don’t do it alone. Surround yourself with trusted people who are invested as much as you are.
- Study what’s happening in your industry and other industries and find ways to capitalize on trends.
- Read at least one book a month in your field.
- Pay it forward. Always give more than you receive.
